Paul Foulkes ANZAED Clinician Scholarships

Application Deadline is on Friday 28 April 2023.

​The annual Paul Foulkes ANZAED Clinician Scholarship is a prize of exemption from conference registration (24-26 August 2023) and up to $500. The cash prize will be applied towards travel expenses.

Applicants must be a clinician working in the eating disorder field, who is a member of ANZAED, and who can demonstrate that their attendance at the ANZAED/AED conference will be of substantial benefit to the clinician, their organisation, their clients and the community at large. 

To apply, applicants will need to provide: 
  1. A personal statement demonstrating how the clinician, their organisation, their clients and the community at large will benefit from receiving this scholarship (no more than 500 words);
  2. A current curriculum vitae;
  3. The name of a referee in support of the application from the organisation in which they work, or a professional who is aware of the clinicians work.
  4. Confirmation of their status as a clinician working in the eating disorders field (can be included in the personal statement or curriculum vitae).

Following the attendance, successful applicants will need to provide one post of 150 words suitable for social media saying what was gained from attending the conference.

Rural & Regional Scholarships

Application Deadline is on Friday 28 April 2023.

Two scholarships are available for clinicians working in a rural or regional setting to attend this year's conference. The award is exemption from conference registration (24-26 August 2023) to attend in-person. Applicants must be a clinician working in the eating disorder field, who is a member of ANZAED, and who can demonstrate that their attendance at the ANZAED/AED conference will be of be of substantial benefit to the clinician, their organisation, their clients and the community at large.

To apply, applicants will need to provide:
  1. A personal statement describing how the clinician, their organisation, their clients and the community at large will benefit from receiving this scholarship (no more than 500 words);
  2. A current curriculum vitae;
  3. The name of a referee in support of the application from the organisation in which they work, or a professional who is aware of the clinicians work;
  4. Confirmation of the applicant’s status as working in a rural or regional setting and as a clinician working in the eating disorders field (can be included in the personal statement or curriculum vitae).

Australian and New Zealand Indigenous Scholarship

ANZAED is excited to launch a scholarship recognising the work of those of Aboriginal, Torres Strait islander and Maori background in the eating disorders field for the first time!

Application Deadline is on Friday 28 April 2023.

The purpose of these Scholarships are to support the development of the Indigenous eating disorders workforce and to improve eating disorder outcomes for people of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and Māori heritage living in Australia and/or New Zealand. Recipients may be working in research, health, education, advocacy, or other relevant areas. Up to two scholarships will be available each year to support ANZAED membership and attendance at the upcoming ANZAED Annual Conference. Applicants must identify as being - Aboriginal; Torres Strait Islander, or of Māori descent and not a current member of the ANZAED Executive Committee.

Award Support:
  1. Full registration for the upcoming ANZAED Annual Conference (24-26 August 2023)
  2. Full ANZAED membership for one year

​Applicants must submit the following materials in their application: 
a) A personal statement addressing the selection criteria above. This statement can be written (500 words maximum), or submitted as a videoclip (4 minutes maximum)  
b) A letter of reference (e.g., from a manager, supervisor, senior colleague or Community leader who knows you and your work well)
c) Optional - A brief CV or biography, including contact details, and current and past education and employment experiences (not be used to score applications).  

These materials must be submitted via email to anzaed@anzaed.org.au, subject line: Indigenous Scholarship Application. Applicants may be asked to show proof of heritage if application is successful.

Peter Beumont Early Career Investigator Scholarships

The Peter Beumont ANZAED Early Career Investigator Prize will be awarded to an early career investigator from a relevant discipline who is a Member of ANZAED and has submitted an Oral abstract to the ANZAED 2023 Gold Coast Conference. Submissions will be evaluated on the capacity of the work to add or extend the eating disorder field, scientific merit and potential for journal publication.

Applications can be made via submission of an Abstract to the conference.

Eligibility: As above, this prize is available to any ANZAED member who has submitted an abstract to the Gold Coast 2023 conference, and is also an honours/fourth year student, a postgraduate student, or is within 3 years of completing their highest degree.

How do I apply? Application is made through the abstract submission site.

The prize will be conference registration and a $500 honorarium.

NOTE: The applicant will need to register, pay registration and attend the conference. The winner will then have the conference registration reimbursed plus $500 paid following the conference.

Journal of Eating Disorders Award for Best Poster

This award will be judged by a nominee of the Editors in Chief of the Journal of Eating Disorders.

​Authors of all posters will have opportunity to apply for this award when notified if their submission was accepted for presentation.

​The prize for this scholarship is an honorarium of A$200 and a waiver on article if submitted/accepted.

 Dietitians Australia (DA) research prize for the best Dietetic research presentation  

The Dietitians Australia eating disorders interest group (EDIG) research prize encourages and recognises excellence in the area of dietetics in the field of eating disorders.

All Accredited Practicing Dietitians that are presenters of oral papers, workshops or a poster at the ANZAED conference will be eligible for the award ​and can apply when notified if their submission was accepted for presentation.

Successful candidates for the Award will be announced at the conference and will receive an award of $300 and a certificate. The winner will also be featured on the ANZAED website and in the Dietitians Australia newsletter.
